Welcome to EcoCommunity Albuquerque! We strive to create an interconnected community of individuals in order to overcome the fast paced and radically changing world we all face. If we look at our ancestors, they seemingly understood an integral part to surviving the world to which we all roam - interconnectedness. Where they built systems that worked to support each other, we built a digital world under that very same guise that is now seemingly what frequently stands in the way of that goal. The internet gives vastly to our world but it often forgets to remind people of what’s right outside their door, around a corner, or even in the building they spend the entire workweek. Even more so though is the stratification between individuals caused by personal attributes - socioeconomic class, political alignment, race, gender, sexuality. We have found more reasons to stand apart than together.
We’ve tried to spell it out across our website but if it's not clear let me introduce ourselves here. I am a web. I hope to connect business and individuals to each other in order to create an entire support system for everyone. Our hope is that by looking for businesses that stand for equality, sustainability, and community we will find amazing individuals who equally strive to help those around them in ways that are less noticeable on a grand scale, but to an individual could be world shattering (in a good way!). This network strives to create a symbiotic relationship with all who are involved. Even in our monetary world, action is powerful, so while sometimes all we can do is pay for the product or service, bringing in business is often the best way to support individuals who strive to change the way businesses are created and operate. Maybe one day we will all be able to see an ascension from true capitalism and become more focused on the individual but for now, we can at least band together to do the best we can.
My hope in creating this map is to foster those relationships and empower the individual to no longer feel trapped within “their means.” None of us deserve to be trapped by such factors, but we can't easily overcome them either. Instead, I’ve done the research and stand behind the businesses that will be represented in this map. Now you can find the ones that meet you where you are at, whether that means being within walking distance, offering delivery, taking EBT, or payment plans, then the map has done its job.
Which brings me to an important point, this is simply a map. It is a resource of which anyone can use to empower their decisions, but it can’t make them for you. You need to know what you need so that you can read the map for you. If something isn’t there that you need, if you need help, or have questions, please let us know. I want this resource to work for everyone. So, keep an eye out for our launch, or hit the subscribe button and you'll be instantly notified when we go live in May 2022.
